Troop 340 is a community of boys and girls dedicated to character development, leadership training, citizenship, and personal fitness. These ‘Aims of Scouting,’ developed in 1910, remain relevant today. Our troop achieves them through outdoor activities, teambuilding, service projects, and hands-on learning. Scouts develop skills that build confidence, responsibility, and strong character.
Guided by trained adult leaders and supported by families, our Scouts get to do high adventure trips once a year. We’ve done adventures like canoeing down the Historic White Cliffs section of the Missouri River, completing a 10-day backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in the wilderness of New Mexico, and SCUBA diving from a live-aboard boat around the Florida Keys. Once a month, we also do local outings that include activities like fishing, cross-country skiing, swimming, hiking, cycling, outdoor cooking, and of course camping! We have learned survival training from a retired air force teacher, toured an air traffic control tower, and had discussions with 911 operators to help us fulfill the Scout Motto: Be Prepared. Check out our outing photos to find out more.
Our troop follows the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law, encouraging members to be trustworthy, helpful, and respectful in their everyday lives. All of our outings include lessons of Leave No Trace, and many also include a community service project. We welcome youth of all backgrounds who are ready to learn, serve their community, and grow into capable leaders. Together, we build friendships, create lasting memories, and prepare young people for life’s adventures.

Troop 340 provides an inclusive scouting environment where all kids can engage in character development, participate in community service, receive leadership training, and enjoy outdoor experiences to grow and succeed.

It's about community service, fostering friendships, and supporting character development as we grow together through inclusive scouting, leadership training, and outdoor experiences.

Everybody ages 11-18 is welcome to join our inclusive scouting program. We will have a girls patrol in 2026, focusing on character development, leadership training, and community service. Get in touch to learn more about our outdoor experiences!
